Blowdown tank for boiler room. Design of specific solutions
We designed and installed a new purge tank for the boiler room in the beverage sector. Each device that we design and install in industrial plants is made with care and care and complies with health and safety regulations and standards.
Steam boilers should be purged regularly to reduce the concentration of suspended and dissolved solids in the boiler water. Furthermore, given that these wastes are under pressure and at extreme temperatures, the purge tank must rigorously fulfill the function of working as a safe storage and cooling device before being discharged into the general drainage.
With the vaporization of boiler water, dissolved solids concentrate and can form scale. For this reason, the use of a heat exchanger prevents the formation of scale in these cases and balances the maintenance of salt concentration levels within the appropriate parameters.
The quality of a boiler’s water depends on the working pressure and the type of boiler. Thus, water tube boilers (those in which the water circulates inside the tubes and the combustion fumes outside them) and fire tube boilers (in which the combustion fumes circulate inside the tubes and water from the outside) are the most demanding in terms of water quality requirements.

Cooler purge tank
Soluciones Integrales de Combustion‘ cooling purge tanks can be made of carbon steel or stainless steel, and control the temperature of the boiler rooms within the range between 50 to 20,000 kilos/hour.
The blowdown tank is designed to take water from the boiler during blowdown and reduce atmospheric pressure for disposal. The water extracted from the boiler at high temperature and pressure can be used, since it has a great potential for recovering the heat from the blowdown, which makes the boiler rooms more efficient. For its part, the flash vapor is evacuated to the atmosphere through an upper valve, at low temperatures.
Purge collection tanks are designed to collect discharges from controls, automatic and manual bottom purges, valves and control systems, as well as auxiliary and energy recovery equipment. They consist of inlets for level or dissolved solids chamber purges, level and boiler bottom purges, tank drain valves for removing sludge, drain check valves for emptying the stopped boiler, pressure gauges. and water cooling systems.
In the world of combustion, Soluciones Integrales de Combustion offers comprehensive solutions that allow maximizing the performance of thermal and combustion installations, through proposals focused on designing optimal measures to increase the performance of the installations. The engineering and advice provided allows the adaptation of thermal and combustion installations to environmental requirements, as well as the performance of proactive maintenance and the achievement of significant savings, both in materials, downtime and energy consumed.
