RTO, regenerative thermal oxidizer in testing phase
RTO in testing phase. Soluciones Integrales de Combustion has completed the delivery and installation phase of the regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) equipment in a company in the Levante food sector.
The RTO in the testing phase is made up of a set of equipment designed to eliminate volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the production plant, a type of atmospheric pollutant harmful to the environment and people’s health. In this way, its compliance with environmental regulations is guaranteed.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are substances that negatively affect air quality and have a direct impact on both the environment and human health. These compounds are usually found in the form of gases or highly volatile liquids, and are composed of substances such as methane, toluene, benzene, propane or ethylene, all of them products in industrial processes. In addition to the food industry, VOC emissions come mainly from sectors such as the livestock industry, steel, plastics, wood, paints and varnishes, and the pharmaceutical sector.
The implementation of the RTO in this food company project is part of the company’s commitment to sustainability with an impact on different social, environmental and economic aspects, based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for 2030. The company valorizes all the byproducts of the line, and has an anaerobic digestion plant in its wastewater treatment plant, to generate biogas that is reused in its plant, reducing the consumption of natural gas in its production plant in, while managing to reduce chemical consumption and improve the quality of discharges.
European legislation is progressively more restrictive regarding the emission of volatile organic compounds, and establishes limits that force industries to adequately control and treat their emissions. In this context, regenerative thermal oxidation systems are effective and sustainable solutions to comply with these regulations.
