Steam installation in a cardboard corrugator
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has recently completed a new steam installation in a cardboard corrugator machine for packaging facility. At this plant, steam is used to provide and maintain the necessary heat for the forming and gluing processes carried out by the machine.
Steam installations are the thermal energy sources responsible for generating and distributing steam to the factory’s industrial processes. They consist of boilers, burners, pipes, valves, and automation and control systems, among other components.
The corrugator is the machine responsible for producing corrugated cardboard for the packaging industry by transforming paper rolls into corrugated cardboard sheets. This process uses heat, pressure, and an adhesive to give the cardboard the necessary strength and durability to provide adequate protection for packaged products.
The corrugator is the central component of cardboard production lines, which are divided into a wet section (where the corrugation is formed) and a dry section (where the sheets are cut and prepared)

The steam system is responsible for generating steam in the boiler, transporting it through the piping network to the corrugating machine, and using this steam to optimize the industrial process through efficient energy generation. The system requires specific equipment such as boilers, burners, valves, and steam traps, as well as steel piping, a gas evacuation system, economizers, and storage tanks. Furthermore, it is essential to ensure preventive maintenance, operational safety, and compliance with current legislation for pressurized equipment.
Through the steam system, the valves and steam traps regulate the flow and remove condensate to prevent it from affecting the energy efficiency of the line.
