Gas Pressure Regulation and Measurement Station for the pharmaceutical industry. One of the most important pharmaceutical laboratories has entrusted Soluciones Integrales de Combustión with the expansion and modification of the gas line in one of its production plants in Madrid.

The project has consisted of increasing the gas supply capacity to 600 Nm3/h, for whichSoluciones Integrales de Combustión has had to install a new Gas Pressure Regulation and Measurement Station (GPRS) and has modified the internal distribution lines of gas going to various consumers.

The Gas Pressure Regulation and Measurement Station (GPRS) installed is double-line to guarantee that in the event of a failure in one of its lines it can continue to function with the other. Inside it contains the necessary elements, such as inlet and safety valves, filters, pipes, pressure regulators and manometers, among other equipment, intended to regulate, control and measure gas in a determined range.

Its mission is to regulate the pressure of the gas supply to the plant, in order to keep it constant, filter the gas and measure the actual consumption of the plant through telemetry.

GPRS facilities operate automatically, and have the function of filtering the gas and reducing and stabilizing its pressure, keeping it constant at its outlet, within previously determined limits, regardless of the inlet pressure.

Indoor gas lines

In this project, Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has adapted the two internal gas lines that go to consumers, one of which is a steam boiler manufactured and installed by our company in a project carried out last year, in which the water tube boiler is containerized in two modules forming a two-level complex.

The compact containerized thermal installation houses all the necessary elements (burner, boiler, pumps, electrical panel, water tank, water treatment) to service the heating of the process line, with an initial production of 3,000 kg of steam.

Operation of the Gas Regulation and Measurement Station

The main functions of a Gass Pressure Regulation and Measurement Station (GPRS) consist of allowing the gas that is received at the point of application to have a constant pressure and within the corresponding ranges and that the temperature is adequate.

The fundamental element of the stations is the pressure reducer, that is, the equipment that allows the reduction and stabilization of the outlet pressure, regardless of the oscillations that may exist in the inlet pressure and the variations in the demanded gas flow.  Pressure regulators are responsible for automatically adjusting their opening area in order to control fluctuating inlet pressures.
