Integral Combustion Solutions (Soluciones Integrales de Combustión) has successfully carried out the modification of the gas skid of the post-combustion burner system of General Química main boiler in Lantarón plant. This facility is part of the Dynasol Group, a joint venture formed by Repsol and the Mexican Kuo Group. At the same time, the company has made the migration from an obsolete control system to a safety system.
All the equipment supplied in the new gas skid (a modular equipment in which all the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical elements necessary for the complete operation of an installation are included) meet the requirements of the ATEX certification (equipment and systems for EXplosive ATmosphere). Integral Combustion Solutions has carried out, from the 3D design engineering phase, to the manufacturing and testing, on-site assembly and commissioning of the installation.
Another complexity of the work has been the short time available to execute it, since it was carried out during the five-day factory shutdown in the month of August. During this period, the assembly and subsequent start-up tasks were also completed by Soluciones Integrales de Combustión.
General Química was created in 1948. The company, subsidiary until 2015 of Repsol, contributed its business of chemical accelerators and antioxidants for the vulcanization of rubber to the Dynasol group, thanks to its production plant in Álava. 75% of the production, according to company data, is aimed at the big wheel manufacturers such as Michelin, Bridegestes, Pirelli, Goodyear or Continental. The plant exports between 80% and 90% of its production to some thirty countries
