Ore drying process in a grinding facility
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has completed the start-up of the ore drying process at the cement grinding facility of a mining company in southern Poland.
With this objective, thermal engineering company has undertaken the implementation of a JBM-HP 2500 burner that works with propane as fuel in the cement grinding process, through a vertical mill. Vertical cement mills are currently the most widely used grinding equipment. They are responsible for carrying out the crushing, drying, grinding and transportation processes. The ore drying process is incorporated into the grinding equipment, along with the grinding of crude oil and the grinding of cement, so that this compact unit reduces environmental pollution, while reducing noise, dust generated and waste. It also allows the addition of necessary water to the raw materials in the procedure.
Vertical cement mills have the advantage of integrating a burner in the mineral drying process, which is responsible for passing through the vertical cement mill all of the kiln exit gases, thus using all of the gases in the drying process of the heat provided by the gases. This phase promotes the reduction of energy consumption in grinding, with the consequent energy saving and, at the same time, it facilitates the total integration of the plant’s regulation and control system.
JBM-HP for Drying Process
The JBM-HP monoblock burners developed by E&M Combustión represent a new generation of combustion equipment used with all types of liquid and gaseous fuels. The standard range includes industrial burners for traditional fuels such as diesel, natural gas and LPG, fuel oil and mixed gas-diesel and gas-fuel oil or hydrogen burners.
The JBM-HP burners have low NOx emissions and a reduced noise level, since they incorporate a silencer in the air intake of the fan. They are prepared to overcome high combustion chamber overpressures and incorporate electronic control units as standard that allow the use of frequency converters to regulate the fan and O2 probes.
In this ore drying installation, the burner is designed to generate hot air for drying the crushed ore in the mills. Hot gases are required in mineral dryers to reduce their humidity to the levels demanded by the plant processing and thus achieve optimization of the manufacturing process.
