Grants to improve technology in industrial combustion equipment and processes until June 2023
The Government extends the Industry III Program of grants to improve technology in industrial combustion equipment and processes as well as energy efficiency for industrial companies until June 2023. With this Program it is expected to achieve a final energy saving of 500 ktoe / year, which is which represents 50% of the annual objective established by the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan, PNIEC.
Within this Program, in Integral Combustion Solutions we are able to lend our knowledge and extensive experience in the field of thermal and combustion engineering for the processes of Renovation of the steam and hot water production system, Improvement of boiler performance by replacement of burner and heat recovery, Recovery of heat and residual heat and Improvement of energy efficiency, among others.
Institutional grants to promote energy efficiency and reduce emissions from industry and its final energy consumption will extend until the end of June 2023, thus extending its validity for the second time after a first extension that ends on June 30, 2021. The measure is part of the need to maintain continuity of support due to the economic context triggered by the pandemic. The Program has increased its budget three times, to 357 million euros.
The new Real Decreto approved by MITECO extends, for the second time, the validity of the Industry III Program of aid for energy efficiency actions in SMEs and large companies in the industrial sector until June 30, 2023.
So far, these grants managed by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving Institute (IDAE), and financed by the National Energy Efficiency Fund, have covered the projects of 950 large companies and SMEs with 214 million euros. With them, the implementation of energy saving and efficiency measures in the industry has been facilitated and it has thus been possible to reduce CO2 emissions and their final energy consumption. The implementation of the companies’ plans will mobilize an investment of more than 772 million euros.
Improvements in Combustion Technologies
These lines subsidize actions to improve technology in industrial equipment and processes and to implement energy management systems, which allow companies to reduce consumption and costs and improve their competitiveness, increase economic activity and promote the creation of jobs.
The success of this Program, originally endowed with 307 million euros, has allowed its budget to be increased three times to reach 357 million euros. In this way, after exhausting its endowment and requesting new financing, the allocation for Asturias was increased with 7.3 million euros, that of Catalonia with 35 million and that of the Basque Country with 7 million. The autonomies may continue requesting extensions of their allocation until June 30, 2023 as they execute 100% of their budget.
Industrial combustion equipment and processes
This grants program enables a wide variety of actions to be promoted to improve energy efficiency in industry, ranging from regular investments to new innovative processes. Among them, the initiative covers actions such as the following:
- Renovation of the steam and hot water production system
- Regulation of motors using electronic speed variators
- Replacement of the existing low energy efficient lighting system with a high energy efficient LED system
- Boiler performance improvement by burner replacement and heat recovery
- Recovery of residual heat
- Replacement of plastic injection machines with more efficient ones
- Energy optimization in the generation of industrial cold
- Improvement of energy efficiency in the textile finishing process
- Replacement of air compressors with high-efficiency equipment
