Change of supervision period from 2 to 24 hours in a biomass boiler
Soluciones Integrales de Combustion has carried out a project to increase the safety and reliability of the manufacturing process in a Spanish food plant, with the change of supervision period from 2 to 24 hours in a biomass boiler. The transition to indirect supervision from periods to periods of up to 24 hours or 72 hours is possible thanks to the installation of highly reliable electronic elements that allow greater control over the operating conditions of boilers and boiler rooms.
The aforementioned factory dedicates its activity to the manufacture of must concentrate (grape juice), used in a wide variety of products in the food, health or cosmetic sector. In the process of making juices for food, the must is used directly or mixed with other fruits. The transformation process consists of subjecting the juice to evaporation under vacuum, after which the concentrate is obtained.
Change of Supervision Period to 24 and 72 hours in boilers
In the area of Supervision Period change, the thermal engineering Soluciones Integrales de Combustión (Combustion Integral Solutions) carries out the tasks of expanding indirect supervision from 2 to 24/72 hours of boilers and boiler rooms, as well as the switch to boiler control for transform boilers and boiler rooms into digital and adjust and and reengineer biomass combustion systems.
The transition to indirect supervision from periods of 2 hours to periods of up to 24 hours or 72 hours is possible thanks to the installation of highly reliable electronic elements that allow greater control over the operating conditions of boilers and boiler rooms.
Indirect boiler supervision periods are those that require a boiler operator to confirm a physical visit to the boiler (every 2, 24, or 72 hours), and represent a fundamental aspect in boiler room safety. Integral Combustion Solutions has carried out in recent years numerous adaptation projects to change this period to both 24 hours and 72 hours. These changes, in addition to reducing the risk of human errors, also allow to operate with greater safety, protecting lives and industrial assets, while reducing the operating and maintenance costs of the Boiler Rooms.

The regulation of pressure equipment in force in Spain (RD 2060/2008) authorizes, in its fifth transitory provision, existing boilers to adapt their surveillance system to the systems indicated in article 7 of the official technical instruction, the ITC EP -1, requiring the presentation of a technical adaptation project.
“Our philosophy is to move towards a boiler management system (BMS) that reduces the use of the number of limiting devices and controllers, giving greater flexibility to the boiler operator. Following this philosophy, Soluciones Integrales de Combustion has carried out numerous adaptation projects to 24 hours and 72 hours with total satisfaction of our clients “.
