Soluciones Integrales de Combustión executes the installation of a steam boiler room in Morocco, in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, conceived as a sustainable project, in which energy efficiency and the reduction of atmospheric emissions of this new industrial plant prevail ultramodern that is being built in that country. The new plant will be operational throughout the year 2023.
The projected energy efficiency refers to the facility’s capacity to achieve the best yields in the plant’s activity, using the smallest possible volume of energy resources.
With this objective, the installation of the steam boiler room will have a pressurized system and a hot air system, energy efficiency techniques that combined, will allow the plant to achieve fuel savings of over 12%.
Propane as fuel
The boiler supplied by Soluciones Integrales de Combustión, an Engineering and Thermal Services company, has a capacity of 6,000 kg/hour of steam at 16 bar. The installation will work with propane as fuel, and will be equipped with a pressurized tank where the condensates that feed said boiler converge, as well as a combustion air preheater that improves the performance of the installation and reduces polluting emissions as well as the temperature outlet in the chimney. The steam boiler room installation is complete with the water feed tank, the main factory steam headers, the fan, and the propane burner itself.
The combustion equipment used in this plant is a JBD 6000 hot air burner at 100º C and low NOX emissions, which operates with propane, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The equipment uses a double air register and is prepared to operate with high combustion chamber overpressures.
The installation process of the boiler room is currently in the assembly phase in Morocco, after the recent arrival of the boiler and all the complementary equipment in Rabat.
Energy saving technology
The condensate recovery process in the recovery tank that works under pressure in the boiler room is carried out at very high temperatures, so the return of this hot and pressurized condensate to the boiler optimizes the process, facilitating the reduction in fuel consumption. In addition, the energy saving provided by this process is added to the elimination of steam into the atmosphere, which in this way does not evaporate and can be recovered and reused again.
For its part, the installation of the heat recovery system allows fuel to be saved, with the implementation of the combustion air preheater (APH), which improves the technical and economic performance of the boiler room, by allowing the transfer of heat from the outgoing combustion gases that enter again towards the burner or combustion furnace.
In this way, the preheater works with fresh air circulating through the interior of the tubes, while the exhaust gases circulate through the smoke chamber. This allows to increase the turbulence of the exhaust gases, as well as the heat exchange surface of the equipment.
