Adaptation of an industrial combustion plant to the European NOx emission regulations
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has completed the adaptation of an industrial combustion plant to the European NOx (nitrogen oxide) emission regulations work, without the need to change the boiler. The solution provided by the company has involved the implementation of a truly ecological system, apart from increasing efficiency and performance.
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has carried out this adaptation, by applying a Low NOx burner and a SICAPH combustion air preheater, as well as by incorporating a Gas Recirculation System (FGR) and isolating the entire installation, achieving the objectives of minimizing atmospheric emissions, reducing heat losses and increasing the performance of the installation.
Low NOx Burners
The challenge of the project consisted of maintaining the existing boiler in the facility, against the usual tendency defended by many manufacturers to change said equipment. The solution proposed by Soluciones Integrales de Combustion has consisted in the implementation of a burner specifically designed for the plant that allows compliance with European NOx emission regulations without modifying the boiler.
With this objective, the company installed in this plant a JBD 6000 by E&M Combustion for hot air at 100ºC and low NOx emissions. Among the characteristics of this family of equipment, its design adapted to the flame of the different fireplaces or combustion chambers, the low NOX emissions, and the use of the double air register stand out, among others.
SICAPH Combustion Air Preheaters
The adaptation to NOx emission regulations is completed with a SICAPH combustion air preheater designed by the company with the aim of obtaining an improvement in energy efficiency. This heat recovery system reduces pollutant emissions and boiler outlet temperature and saves fuel. In addition, it can operate with any type of fuel, from diesel to natural gas or hydrogen.
Flue Gas Recirculation System
In this project, in addition, the preheater has thermal insulation to avoid heat losses and prevent incidents, as well as the installation of a combustion gas recirculation system (F.G.R) to reduce polluting emissions. The sum of these systems means that the most demanding regulations established in the EU are more than met.
