Implementation of biogas combustion equipment in a juice production plant
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has carried out the implementation of Combustion Equipment with Biogas in a juice production plant, as well as the commissioning and start-up of the installation. Thermal engineering has developed the combustion equipment together with the manufacturer E&M Combustión to respond to the specific dual needs of the plant, which consisted of using biogas and natural gas so that, in the event of a drop in biogas pressure, the burners continue to operate to use natural gas.
The juice-producing company has an anaerobic digestion plant in its facilities, responsible for purifying the effluents that come from the juice manufacturing process, thereby achieving self-generation of the biogas produced. In fact, the juice producer reuses 100% of the biogas generated in its thermal energy generation processes for purification and manufacturing processes.
In this way, it manages to reduce the total gas consumption in the production factory by 24%, at the same time that it has managed to reduce the consumption of chemical products and improve the quality of discharges into the public channel.
The application launched by Integral Combustion Solutions has consisted of a model JBD 11,500 mixed biogas/natural gas boiler burner and a model 20,000 trommel burner that is also mixed, to work with biogas and natural gas. The implementation of this equipment allows considerable savings in energy costs and the obtaining of a more sustainable production.
Biogas combustion equipment in industry
Biogas is basically the result of the anaerobic treatment of urban waste that occurs naturally in landfills. The application of biogas in industry, especially in the food and beverage, paper pulp or ceramic industry, entails a high energy yield. The proliferation of biogas generation plants is expected to progressively facilitate widespread access to this fuel.
The most innovative Combustion Technologies offer combustion equipment for alternative fuels such as Biogas to adapt to the increasingly frequent cases of using these alternative fuels as an energy resource. Some specialized designs also contemplate the possibility that the same burner can use several types of fuels, depending on their availability.
Biogas, renewable energy of the future? Alternative to natural gas
This relatively new and underexploited energy has already begun the gradual creation of a value chain around it, which, however, will have to face many obstacles to overcome fossil fuels.
In fact, in times of scarcity of sustainable energy, it seems reasonable to take advantage of the available waste to convert it into energy, but biogas is still far from replacing fossil fuels such as natural gas. It will have to overcome the main challenges facing its expansion, which is still scarce, such as reducing the cost of production and eliminating odor in the vicinity of the methanation units, according to the La Vie Nouvelle report. And yet, France, along with Italy and Germany, leads a fairly advanced position in Europe in this field, where companies and institutions proclaim their virtues. Integral Combustion Solutions, an agent in the value chain of this fuel, analyzes and compiles some of the latest data on biogas.
