Commissioning of industrial boilers for the paper industry

Soluciones Integrales de Combustión (Comprehensive Combustion Solutions), a company specialized in the commissioning of industrial boilers, as well as the maintenance and revamping of energy installations, has completed the installation of the Steam Generator Equipment in a Smurfit Kappa paper plant in the town of Burgos. This factory concentrates its technological activity on the manufacture of corrugated cardboard packaging.

The commissioning of industrial boilers is a complex activity and is usually linked to the challenge of improving performance and reducing NOX emissions from the plant.

In this case, the objective has been met with the start-up of the steam generation equipment that consists of the boiler, a burner, an air preheater (APH), a gas recirculation system and a purge cooling system. The installation of the Flue Gas Recirculation system, FGR, reduces NOX emissions, and together with the system for mounting the preheater for hot air, it has achieved an increase in performance in the installation of more than 93%. “(without economizer)”. The use of APH increases the efficiency up to 4%.

All the equipment is controlled by a digital panel that manages the boiler, burner, air preheater and FGR system.

The industrial burner is a JBD 8500 equipment developed by E&M Combustion, which works with natural gas as a fuel, to generate hot air at a temperature of 120º C, connected to the FGR NOX emission reduction system.
