Energy audit at the plant of a cardboard manufacturer
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión carries out an energy audit at the plant of a cardboard manufacturer in the community of Aragón, with the aim of knowing the energy costs and identifying and quantifying the possibilities of savings through the adoption of energy efficiency measures. These initiatives will make it possible to reduce the plant’s electricity and fuel bill and thus improve its competitiveness in the markets.
Among the activities undertaken by Spanish thermal and combustion engineering to improve existing processes in production plants, energy audit is a priority as it detects inefficient and higher-consumption processes and it guides the necessary phases to design and install combustion equipment, such as boilers, burners, economizers, preheaters, etc., which allow the industrial plant to increase its performance between 5 and 10%.
Energy audit
Indeed, the energy audit allows organizations to know their situation regarding the use of energy and discover the operations within the processes that can contribute to saving and the efficiency of the primary energy consumed, as well as optimizing the energy demand of the installation. Likewise, it takes into account the use and diversification of energy sources, including optimization by fuel change.
Energy saving
As a general rule, large companies and organizations (with more than 250 workers or a sales figure of more than 50 million) are required to undergo an energy audit every four years, from the previous audit, according to Real Decreto 56/2016 that transposes the European Directive 2012/27/UE on energy efficiency.
By collecting data and carrying out measurements, the energy audit allows knowing the existing energy situation in detail and identifying potential energy efficiency measures and the possible use of different fuels of a more profitable and sustainable nature in the plant.
The objective of saving energy in the facilities carried out by Soluciones Integrales de Combustión is carried out through the design and installation of various equipment, which increase their performance by up to 5%, as well as the possibility of complementing them with an oxygen probe and a variator of frequency in the burner, which adds a saving of 3% to 5%, optimizing the combustion process. Likewise, the company designs and installs combustion air preheaters that further improve the performance of the installation and reduce the production of atmospheric emissions, contributing to improving the environment. The return of these energy improvement projects occurs rapidly.
