Installation of a biomass boiler to operate with almond shells
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión is carrying out the installation of a biomass boiler in a food processing plant in Alicante. The installed biomass equipment will use almond shells as fuel.
In order to avoid the emission of solid particles into the atmosphere and adapt to compliance with emissions regulations, the line installed by Soluciones Integrales de Combustión will have a bag filter, equipment normally used in industrial facilities for the treatment of grains, ceramics, cement or chemicals, etc. that makes possible the separation of solid particles in suspension. Thus, the bag filter will be in charge of collecting the particles that are produced in the process.
With this same environmental objective, the biomass boiler installation will also have a multicyclone, a device used to control emissions and particles, allowing their recovery and aspiration of particles. This equipment will also reduce the frequency of maintenance tasks and increase its useful life.
On the other hand, the biomass boiler will have an automatic cleaning system, which will optimize operating time without requiring frequent maintenance tasks to clean the installation.
Installation of a biomass boiler
The biomass boiler installed by Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has a steam production capacity of 3,500 kg. It will use natural fuels for its operation, such as almond shells, widely produced in this geographical area, which will serve the food manufacturing plant it serves.
The biomass generated by the by-products of almonds and other nuts thus become an efficient, economical and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.
The installation of biomass boilers has great advantages, such as the aforementioned renewable nature and the reuse of what just a few years ago was considered mere waste, which needed to be processed and eliminated. Usually, they also tend to use local production, which favors the creation of local employment and energy independence. Almond cultivation occupies some 110,000 cultivated hectares in the Valencian Community, which represents 20% of the agricultural area.
In this case, the installation of this biomass boiler has also taken into account the reduction in maintenance work that the operation of the installation could imply, by simplifying the processes for cleaning waste and potential emissions into the atmosphere.
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión
The company manufactures industrial steam, hot water and superheated water boilers under the SIC brand, both for use with fossil fuels and for operation with biomass or other renewable and sustainable fuels.
