Commissioning of the boiler room of a corrugated cardboard factory in Morocco
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has commissioned the boiler room of a corrugated cardboard factory in Morocco, which has been operational since this summer. The ownership of the plant has invested 35 million euros to equip itself with this integrated corrugated cardboard plant on an area of 25,000 square meters, which will create 400 direct and indirect jobs in the country.
The new factory is a sustainable project in which energy efficiency and the reduction of atmospheric emissions prevail. In this way, the energy efficiency of the installation will allow it to achieve high yields in the activity of the plant, with the use of the smallest possible volume of energy resources.
Energy efficient technologies in a boiler room
With this vision, the installation of the steam boiler room proposed by Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has a pressurized system, as well as a flue gas recirculation system, two of the energy efficiency techniques that, combined, will achieve a fuel savings of more than 12% in the plant.
The boiler supplied by the company has a capacity to produce 6,000 kg / hour of steam at 16 bar. The facility will operate with propane as fuel and is equipped with a pressurized tank where the condensates that feed the aforementioned boiler converge, as well as a combustion air preheater that improves the performance of the facility and reduces polluting emissions as well as the temperature outlet in the chimney. The steam boiler room is completed with the water feed tank, the main factory steam collectors, the fan and the propane burner itself.
The combustion equipment installed in this plant is a JBD 6000 hot air burner at 100º C and low NOx emissions, which operates with propane, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Said equipment uses a double air register and is prepared to operate with high overpressures in the combustion chamber.
Energy saving systems
The condensate recovery process in the recovery tank that works under pressure in the boiler room is carried out at very high temperatures, so the return to the boiler of this hot and pressurized condensate optimizes the process, facilitating the reduction in fuel consumption. In addition, the energy savings provided by this process include the removal of steam to the atmosphere, which in this way does not evaporate and can be repeatedly recovered and reused.
Likewise, the installation of the heat recovery system saves fuel through the implementation of the combustion air preheater (SICAPH) from Integral Combustion Solutions, which improves the technical and economic performance of the boiler room, by allowing the heat transfer from the outgoing combustion gases that enter back to the burner or combustion hearth.
Growing Moroccan economy
The commissioning of the boiler room in a corrugated cardboard factory established by Soluciones Integrales de Combustión works in the plant that provides innovative services in packaging solutions to Moroccan companies and other multinationals in the industrial, automotive, agricultural, goods consumption, pharmaceutical and ceramic. In fact, Morocco’s macroeconomic forecasts have been a key incentive to develop this investment project. Thus, according to the data collected by the OECD, the growth rate of the Moroccan economy will be around 3.5% this year and 3.7% in 2024.
The plant is supplied with green energy, for which it has 1,500 solar panels that feed the plant and cover 55% of its energy needs. In this way, it is estimated that they will help you reduce 900 tons of CO2 emissions per year. The factory also has a water purification and treatment system that reduces consumption by 35%,
“Turnkey” boiler room
