Soluciones Integrales de Combustión, engineering company of “turnkey services for Energy Installations” has started up an air draught burner in a dryer for the food industry at a plant in the Spanish autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. 

The air draught burner is a JVA-C-60 model, Low NOx of 698 kW and 600,000 Kcal / h, designed “to measure” by the manufacturer E&M Combustion for this drying application. The combustion equipment is prepared to generate hot air with different powers in a pistachio dryer located in Ciudad Real.  

This dryer for the food industry consists of a modular rectangular tank, with different plots for the storage of pistachios, and operates with natural gas as fuel, without causing the generation of polluting gases.

The technical team of Soluciones Integrales de Combustion has installed this hot air generation system with a special regulation system, equipped with an ETC 6000 electronic control unit, with 4 different regulations depending on the load of pistachios to be dried, as well as with a ventilation frequency variator and dilution air.

In this way, the installation has 4 drying operation modes depending on the volume to be treated, allowing the adjustment of power and flow rates according to the variation in demand. The energy power will thus be adjusted to the need of the demand, allowing a reduction in consumption and the consequent energy savings.

Drying or dehydrating food is one of the oldest techniques used for preserving food. The drying process is understood as the total or partial elimination of water from a substance. Controlling the moisture content of a product is a tool for its conservation, by increasing the stability of the product.
