Commissioning of a gas-biogas mixed fuel steam boiler in a beverage plant
Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has undertaken the commissioning of a gas-biogas mixed fuel steam boiler in a beverage plant. The installation consists of a boiler with 4 tons of steam at a pressure of 12 bars, as well as a mixed burner developed specifically for this combustion system and a combustion air preheater.
The project in which the company based in Madrid and factory in the Basque Country has participated is part of the beverage manufacturer’s challenge of environmental sustainability and the circular economy. This commitment is aimed at progressively replacing the consumption of fossil fuel, natural gas, with biogas.
With this objective, Soluciones Integrales de Combustion has commissioned a gas-biogas mixed fuel steam boiler in a beverage plant with the installation started using a mixed burner that uses gas-biogas as fuel in a variable proportion, regulated automatically.
Gas-biogas mixed fuel boiler
Along with the mixed fuel boiler, Soluciones Integrales de Combustión has implemented a model JBD 6000 mixed burner with hot air, from the manufacturer E&M Combustión, capable of using more than one type of fuel, which allows greater flexibility in the use of the fuel-boiler, when changing the type of fuel according to the user’s requirements. JBD burners are equipment with low NOx emissions, prepared to overcome high combustion chamber overpressures.
The installation has been completed with a SICAPH combustion air preheater develped by Soluciones Integrales de Combustion to improve the performance of the boiler installation. The equipment improves energy efficiency by allowing heat transfer from the outgoing combustion gases to the fresh air that is directed back to the burner.
Preheaters fulfill the function of reducing polluting emissions, while reducing the chimney outlet temperature and saving fuel.
Sustainable solutions with biogas
The beverage manufacturing company has an anaerobic digestion plant in its facilities, which is responsible for purifying the effluents from the manufacturing process, thereby managing to self-generate biogas. This biogas generated in its manufacturing processes is already being reused 100%, thus managing to reduce its consumption of natural gas. This operation has also allowed it to reduce the consumption of chemical products, as well as improve the quality of discharges to the public channel, which leads to more sustainable production.
Soluciones Integrales de Combustion carries out industrial combustion engineering services that comprehensively cover the needs of each type of process, starting with design and supply, through to installation and commissioning, maintenance and repairs. The solutions proposed by the company add added value in areas such as energy savings, sustainability, reliability and the reduction of unnecessary stops in facilities.
